Romeo and Juliet
Romeo and Juliet is a ballet by Sergei Prokofiev based on Shakespeare’s tragic love story. Prokofiev composed the music in 1935 or 1936 for the Kirov Ballet. The incredible ballet score has inspired many great choreographers to try their hand at Shakespeare’s story.
Romeo and Juliet ballet will feature the preface ballet Chopinana which grew out of Chopin’s Seventh Waltz and had its premiere on February 23, 1907. The favorite oeuvre of its creator, Mikhail Fokine, this work has now become standard repertoire for many of the world’s leading theatres.
The Russian National Ballet Theatre was founded in Moscow during the transitional period of Perestroika in the late 1980s, when many of the great dancers and choreographers of the Soviet Union’s ballet institutions were exercising their new-found creative freedom by starting new, vibrant companies dedicated not only to the timeless tradition of classical Russian Ballet but to invigorate this tradition as the Russians began to accept new developments in the dance from around the world.

BYU International Folk Dance Ensemble
With a beautiful array of ethnic costumes, the International Folk Dance Ensemble presents a concert program of dances from more than a dozen nations, including Ukraine, Russia, Korea, Poland, Mexico, and the United States.
Since 1964 the ensemble has represented the United States and American culture at folk dance festivals throughout the world, including the festival held in conjunction with the 1988 Seoul Olympics and the festivals in Haifa, Israel; Confolens, France; and Billingham, England. In addition, the group regularly presents its international repertoire throughout the United States and Canada. Regardless of focus–international or American–the BYU Folk Dance Ensemble is acclaimed by thousands for their skillful dancing and energy.

French Chamber Orchestra
Acclaimed as one of France’s best chamber orchestras, the French Chamber Orchestra, was founded in 1989 and is now based in Senlis near Paris. Esteemed pianist/director, Eugene Albulescu, conducts this enthralling orchestra which specializes in bringing forgotten masterpieces to life playing the musical treasures of Mozart, Saint Saens & Ravel.
The ensemble made its 2002 United States debut with a concert in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York. In 2005, they made their international debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden. Since then the orchestra has become known world-wide with performances in Switzerland, Holland, Italy, Belgium, Germany, England and the Czech Republic.
